Begin your journey..
Where do you want your journey to end? No matter what your end is, you can't begin until you take that first step forward :)
I was always a petite 5'2 115lb southern belle. I never dieted or exercised while growing up. So, when I became pregnant with my son at 19, I had no idea how to be a healthy mom for him. I ate for 2..literally. I gained 100lbs with my pregnancy and couldn't shake the weight. I tried countless diets and failed at all of them. I assumed this was my new destiny. I was going to be that girl with "a pretty face". I was so miserable with myself that I would eat more to disguise the true root of my problem. I developed a binge eating pattern that only added to my weight problems.
I believe however, we all have that one thing in life that we love more than ourselves, more than our addiction, more than life. For me, that was my little boy. I knew he deserved so much more from me. He deserved a chance at living a healthy lifestyle.
So this leads to where my journey began: September 17th, 2003. My husband and I took our son to a local state park and there was a lighthouse on a small hill that our son wanted to look out. I had to wait at the bottom of the hill while my husband walked him up because I was so out of shape. As I stood there with tears streaming down my face, I promised myself that I would never miss a moment of his life again. I missed a moment of his life because I had let my weight over take me. That was the last day I stood at the bottom of a "hill" in life. Now, nothing holds me back. I tackle everything with a fierceness that can't be matched.
I made the decision that I wasn't going to live at a size 20ish any longer. It took me until December 20th, 2008 to meet my goal of 125 lbs. I lost almost 100lbs without pills or crazy diets! Looking back it was worth every tear, every drop of sweat, and every pound I lost. Losing weight brought out a side of me that I didn't know existed. The same girl who couldn't play with her son on the playground now runs half marathons, teaches fitness classes, personal trains, lifts weights, and does Turbo for hours--yes, that's me!
I have made it my life's mission to help others regain back their lives. I want everyone to live healthy and be at their maximum fitness level! I now spend most of my time helping others. Helping someone along in their journey just fuels my fire to keep going.
2010 was a big year for me :) I am now a certified personal trainer and I became certified teach 20/20/20, Urban Striptease (aka Girlz Night Out), Hip Hop Hustle, Turbo Kick, and PiYo. So--if you are reading this--NOTHING is impossible!.
Together we will get you to your goal. You are not walking the journey by yourself any longer because I am here with you for every step of the way.
